明代朝鲜的申叔舟利用正音文字对《洪武正韵》反切音值进行了标注，在韵母标注上，他将实际语音跟韵书、韵图里的韵类做比较，实际语音跟韵书、韵图的韵类相合的，径以实际语音作音，实际语音跟韵书、韵图的韵类有出入的，则将变出的部分复归以求合于韵书、韵图“正音”的韵类格局，再以“俗音”标注变出的新音。申氏所为是我们所见到的先于高本汉的最早的古音构拟。

Korean linguist Shen Shuzhou （1417--1475, corresponding to the Ming Dynasty in China） transcribed the phonetic values offanqie characters in Hongwu Zhengyun with the Korean letters by way of comparing the pronunciations of his time with the rhyme categories of each character as reflected from rhyme dictionaries and rhyme tables： when the two were in conformity, he transcribed the fanqie characters by recording the actual pronunciations; when the two were in conflict, he not only reverted the pronunciations to make them accord with the rhyme structure as displayed in rhyme dictionaries and rhyme tables, but also provided the recorded actual pronunciations, marked as ＂vulgar pronunciations＂. Later on, another Korean linguist Cui Shizhen followed his practice and labeled the changed pronunciations as ＂current vulgar pronunciations＂. To some extent, Shen＇s transcriptions may be taken as the earliest known reconstructions of old Chinese phonology, anticipating B. Karlgren＇s more scientific reconstructed system.
