形势是与人类实践活动相关的事物在运动、变化、发展过程中的状况和潜在的方向。它虽是人类活动所造成的，却有客观性，需要人们悉心研究、高度关注并审时度势；它的社会性表现为实践性与历史性；形势富于变化，却有其内在的规律性，在“飘乎不定”的摇摆中，却有着相对确定的演变趋势；形势具有价值性：其直接的损利增益之中，决定或影响着人们的选择的方向与目标，并从正反两方面给人以巨大的激励。

Situation is the status and potential directions of things associated with human practical activities in the process of motion, changing and developing process. Although it is caused by human activity, it has objectivity and should be studied carefully. Its sociality appears as practicality and historic significance. Situation is full of variety, but it does have its inherent regularity, and has a relatively definite evo-lution tendency amid the uncertainty of roving. Situation is valuable, its direct loss and gain decide or affect people＇s direction and goal of choice, and support people with great motivation from the positive andnegative aspects.
