小说《楢山节考》中所描写的将上了年纪的老人遗弃至深山中的故事,从人类伦常道德角度看,确实匪夷所思。但在日本《古事记》、《日本书纪》等书籍中确有相似的记载。可见日本在孝养观出现以前有过一段"孝"的真空期,在此期间人们心中并无"孝"的观念。在中国儒教孝道传入日本之后,日本的忠孝观念由于时代因素、社会因素、文化因素等原因,以中国儒教的孝道为基础发生了一定程度的变异。经过几个时代的演进,形成了以"恩"为核心,"忠"大于"孝","忠"、"孝"为绝对义务的不平等的日本孝养观。

In The Ballad of Narayama,an old man was deserted in remote mountains.In the view of moral human relations,it seems outrageous.However,similar stories appeared in Japanese books,such as Kojiki,Nihon Syoki.Obviously,there was a vacancy of "filial duty" in Japanese concept of filial duty,at that time people lacked filial idea.After the introduction of Chinese Confucian filial piety,Japan to certain extent changed the Chinese Confucian concept due to factors of times,society and culture.In the development of several eras,Japan had formed her own concept of unfair filial piety with the absolute duty of "loyalty","filial duty" at the core of "gratitude".
