1935年12月，吴鼎昌由银行家、报人一跃而为南京国民政府实业部长，1938年1月，吴鼎昌担任贵州省政府主席并长达7年。无论任职实业部长或是省主席，吴鼎昌都发挥自身优势，联系实际，注重发展全国及地方的实业。担任实业部长，他奖励生产，发展贸易，积极推进农村合作事业，发起成立国货联营公司，推动国民经济建设运动，对中国现代实业的发展及经济现代化产生影响；筹备成立农本局，创办县市合作金库，发展农村金融，促进农村经济恢复和发展。主政贵州，他采取措施发展农林牧蚕、电工矿、交通运输等实业，创办贵州企业股份公司，探索一条工业化道路，促进贵州经济发展。吴鼎昌发展现代实业的主张与实践，为中国的工业化和现代化发挥了实际作用，但受到国民党政权体制及其他因素的影响，其很多主张与实践存在一定局限性，并未达到预期目的。

1935년12월，오정창유은행가、보인일약이위남경국민정부실업부장，1938년1월，오정창담임귀주성정부주석병장체7년。무론임직실업부장혹시성주석，오정창도발휘자신우세，련계실제，주중발전전국급지방적실업。담임실업부장，타장려생산，발전무역，적겁추진농촌합작사업，발기성입국화련영공사，추동국민경제건설운동，대중국현대실업적발전급경제현대화산생영향；주비성립농본국，창판현시합작금고，발전농촌금융，촉진농촌경제회복화발전。주정귀주，타채취조시발전농림목잠、전공광、교통운수등실업，창판귀주기업고빈공사，탐색일조공업화도로，촉진귀주경제발전。오정창발전현대실업적주장여실천，위중국적공업화화현대화발휘료실제작용，단수도국민당정권체제급기타인소적영향，기흔다주장여실천존재일정국한성，병미체도예기목적。
In December 1935, Wu Ting -chang became the Minister of Industry in the Nanjing National Government from a banker and a journalist and had been the Chairman of the Guizhou provincial government for seven years since January 1938. He paid much attention to the national and local industrial development on his official positions. As the Minister of Industry, He took many measures to promote the national economic development, such as to reward the production, to develop trade, and to promote vigorously the rural cooperative utilities and so on. He also set up a Council of Agriculture, and cooperative banks in cities and counties to develop the rural finance and to promote rural economic recovery and development. When He took the power in Guizhou, he established Guizhou Enterprise Co. Ltd. to develop the agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, silkworm, electricity, mining, transportation and other industries to explore a road to industrialization in Guizhou. Wu Ting - ehhng＇s ideas and tbe development of modem industrial practice for China＇s industrialization and modernization played a practical role. But be did not achieve the desired results because of the Kuomintang regime system and other factors.
