《读书》是一本以书为主题的思想评论刊物。创刊以来,《读书》杂志始终坚持这一办刊定位,成为思想界改革开放的标志和我国期刊界的一个著名品牌,形成了具有中国气派的期刊文化风格,并延续了上个世纪初叶《新青年》、《语丝》、《东方》等著名刊物的文化之风。总起来看,1986年以前的《读书》办刊风格较为平和。1986年以后,《读书》在延续传统的基础上开始出现了明显变化。在沈昌文和汪晖主持《读书》的两个10年间,各自形成了独特的办刊特点。这两个时期的《读书》办刊风格虽有差异,但《读书》的人间关怀和思想锋芒始终没有改变,一直保持着对人与书、文学和艺术、历史和生活的关注。

Reading is a magazine about ideological criticisms.It＇s subject is book.Since establishing it,Reading has insisted on the registration.It has become a symbol of reforming and opening to the outside world in the thinking public.It has become a famous brand of Chinese magazines.It has come into being the style of magazine culture with Chinese air,continuing the air of famous magazine culture of new youth,pieces of words and east in the preliminary stage of last century.In a word,the style of establishing Reading was pacific fairly before 1986.Reading has have a obvious transformation on the foundation of continuing tradition since 1986.It has formed respective peculiar feature in two decades of Shen Changwen and Wang Hui charging Reading.The style of establishing Reading has difference in the two periods,but Reading hasn＇t changed the careing for man＇s world and the cutting edge of thought from beginning to end.It has always keeped paying attention to man and books,literature and art,history and life.
