元代至元间，藏传密宗高僧胆巴被贬潮州路，曾开坛授戒说法，播下了藏传佛教的种子；并创建一座宝积寺，使藏传佛教密宗曾大显于潮。胆巴所带来的藏传佛教密宗，对中国东南部潮汕地方信仰产生了深远的影响，为多彩的汉藏文化交流史添上浓重的一笔。

원대지원간，장전밀종고승담파피폄조주로，증개단수계설법，파하료장전불교적충자；병창건일좌보적사，사장전불교밀종증대현우조。담파소대래적장전불교밀종，대중국동남부조산지방신앙산생료심원적영향，위다채적한장문화교류사첨상농중적일필。
In the Yuan dynasty,high monk Dan Ba of Buddhist Tantric was degraded to Chaozhou route. He once made forum and taught Bud also established a temple and made made great influence in the field of cial stroke in the history of colourful dhist monastic discipline,so he seeded a field with Buddhism. He Buddhist Tantric popular in Chaozhou. Therefore,Buddhist Tantric local belief in Chaoshan,the southeast China. It also added a speculture communication between Tibet and Han nationalities.
