Abstract: This study investigated the effects of emotion upon the decision-making speed and accuracy of bad- minton players, based on the current cognitive approach in psychology and the needs from training and competi- tion in sport. Eighty-four players ( 18 to 23 years old; 65 men, 19 women) from one badminton team of a sport university participated in this research. The study consisted of two pre-experiments and a formal experiment: A. The selection of emotion materials; B. The selection of decision-making tasks; C. Emotion (2) × decision-mak- ing task (2). The results suggested that: There was significant difference between groups of different emotions. The accuracy of cognitive decision-making was significantly higher than intuitive decision-making under positive emotion, while it was not significantly higher than the intuitive decision-making under negative emotion.
