在先秦诸子思想中，水是思想家论道阐思的重要思维凭借。以水阐性、比德、明理、论学、喻教，可视为诸子水论的主要教育表现；水的处下不争、随方就圆、自洁洁人等特点，则成为诸子水论的基本依据。对水灵活、巧妙的借用，充分显示出诸子藉物阐理、以简御繁、举重若轻的教育智慧。分析和借鉴先秦水论的思想，有助于转变当今教育研究视阈、论证方式、表述风格，进而推进中国教育研究的本土化进程。
재선진제자사상중，수시사상가론도천사적중요사유빙차。이수천성、비덕、명리、론학、유교，가시위제자수론적주요교육표현；수적처하불쟁、수방취원、자길길인등특점，칙성위제자수론적기본의거。대수령활、교묘적차용，충분현시출제자자물천리、이간어번、거중약경적교육지혜。분석화차감선진수론적사상，유조우전변당금교육연구시역、론증방식、표술풍격，진이추진중국교육연구적본토화진정。
In the thoughts of the Pre-Qin Dynasty thinkers, water was an important thinking reliance upon which the thinkers clarified their thoughts. Using water to clarify humanity, compare morality, explain intellects, elucidate learning and describe education can be regarded as the main educational manifestation of the Water Theory. And the various characteristics of water, such as no competition in unfavorable situation, being adjustable to circumstance, being self-cleaning and capable of cleaning others, etc., could be taken as the fundamental basis of Water Theory. The nimble and ingenuous methods of borrowing from water had demonstrated the unique educational wisdom of Pre-Qin Dynasty thinkers such as explaining truth by making use of the relative things, dealing with the complicated things with simple method, accomplishing a significant task with ease. To analyze and learn from Water Theory is of great beneficial for us to change the current educational research fields, the way of argumentation, the style of formulation, and that can be helpful for us to promote the localization process of educational research in China.
