苏东坡对词的最大贡献公认是扩大了词的题材范围，提高了词的表现力和社会功能，提升了词的品位，指出了词的向上一路，使之与诗相媲美，成为传统文学上的双璧。他对词的创新在贬居黄州时期表现更为突出，《念奴娇·赤壁怀古》被认为是豪放词的代表之作。通过对他在黄州时期的生活状况、生活环境、思想情感及创作特色等方面的分析，可以看出，是黄州特殊的生活经历和人文环境给他提供了新的创作条件和创作思路，是苏词创新的推动力。

Su Dongpo＇s greatest contribution to the ci poem lies with the expansion of subjects, improvement of the expressiveness and social function, and promotion of the level. Moreover, he explored the approaches to the elevation of the ci poem, which will match the traditional poetry, so that both of them became the two supreme form of literature. His innovation was well manifested in his writing when he was demoted to Huangzhou. ＂Niannujiao, Recalling Antiquity at the Cliff＂ has been regarded as his representative work. A review of his life, thoughts, and writing in Huangzhou shows that the special experiences in this place paved the way for his innovative creation.
