白居易的道教信仰虽然不像佛教濡染那样深,但贬谪江州之后从未中断过烧炼大丹、服食药物、修习内丹之类的活动。这种宗教信仰和宗教生活深刻地影响了他的诗歌创作,诗歌创作题材的扩大,生动地反映了诗人修持长生之道的过程与心理活动,并在神仙美学的影响下,创作了像《长恨歌》和《梦仙》那样的杰作。

Bai Juyi did not believe in Taoism as much as he did in Bhudism.However,he did not stop such activities as making and talking about pills of immortality or practicing Inner Alchemy since he was banished to Jiangzhou.This religious belief and religious life greatly influenced his poetic writing,for it enlarged his range of subjects,which reflected the poet＇s practice of longevity and his psychological activities.Under the influence of Immortal aesthetics,he created such excellent works as ＂Song of Hatred＂ and ＂Mengxian＂.
