抗战爆发后,徽州周边地区沦陷为敌占区,物资交流异常困难,从而引起物价大幅度上涨。面对社会环境变动所带来的影响,民间社会力量和国家之家建立了良性互动机制,保证了徽州地方社会的稳定。但当国家的权力以不适当的方式介入并对民间力量造成较大的侵害时,双方之间也存在着比较激烈的矛盾,有时甚至达到无法弥合的程度。随着抗战进程的推进,国民政府为巩固政权的合法性基础而逐步加强对基层社会的全面控制,歙县稳定的社会秩序背后潜伏着巨大的危机。

After the outbreak of the Anti - Japanese War, the surrounding areas of Huizhou were occupied by Japanese. Consequently, exchange of goods and materials became difficult and prices rose substantially. Confronted with the social changes, the civil societies and the national government established a benign mechanism of interaction to ensure the social stability of Huizhou. But when the state power inappropriately stepped in and considerably encroached on the folk strength, sharp contradic- tions arose and sometimes became unbridgeable. As the War continued, the National Government gradually strengthened its com- prehensive control of the grassroots societies in order to consolidate its legitimacy, and a huge crisis lurked in the seemingly stable social order in Shexian.
