This paper considers that the word Yeli（冶吏）or Yeshi（冶史）recorded in weapon inscriptions of the Three Jin area should be explained as Yeshi（冶事）, which means to be in charge of metal smelting. Another word Yeren（冶人）, an alternative name of Ye 冶, refers to the lowest ranked officials of the three-class smelting inspection system.
