《易林》本为占筮之作，但在诗歌不甚发达之西汉却极具诗歌色彩和文学价值。《易林》中有众多林辞涉及到战争，淋漓尽致地流露出焦延寿的反战思想。这种反战思想源于焦延寿对西汉中前期战争灾难的深切体悟和对先秦诸子反战传统的赓续发扬，同时，也离不开其对时代思潮的吸纳和传承。《易林》反战思想在渴望和平的当代社会依然具有其存在的价值。

《역림》본위점서지작，단재시가불심발체지서한각겁구시가색채화문학개치。《역림》중유음다림사섭급도전쟁，림리진치지류로출초연수적반전사상。저충반전사상원우초연수대서한중전기전쟁재난적심절체오화대선진제자반전전통적갱속발양，동시，야리불개기대시대사조적흡납화전승。《역림》반전사상재갈망화평적당대사회의연구유기존재적개치。
At the beginning, Yilin was a fortune--telling book, but there was obvious literature and poetic tlavor in it when the poetry was not developed well in West Han dynasty. Many poets depicted the war, and expressed JIAO Yan shou＇s idea of turning against the war. The author felt the war＇s destruction in West Han dynasty, and succeeded the tradition of turning against the war by the thinkers of the Pre-Qin Period . At the same time, the author kept the current thought. There is also some significance from turning against the war in Yilin today.
