基于人口学和社会学理论,采用问卷调查和半结构访谈方法,对甘肃省民勤县近年人口外流的主要特征及其原因进行分析。研究显示：民勤县不同区域间人口外流的强度有一定差异;外流人口性别比、年龄和受教育水平等方面表现出明显的差异;水资源短缺是人口外流的关键客观性动因,同时,源于当地长期人口与资源尖锐矛盾的＂外流文化＂,是人口持续外流的主观性动因。

Based on theories of demography and sociology,a questionnaire survey was made together with a semi-structured interview to analyse characteristics and causation of the population outflow from Minqin County,Gansu province.The results show： the outflow has differences among different areas of the county;some significant distinctions can be found in sex ratio,age structure and education level;water shortage is the key objective reason causing the outflow,while the subjective reason is the local ＂outflow culture＂,rooted in a long-term-basis sharp conflict between population and resources in the area.
