黄尊三于1905年赴日留学,1912年毕业回国。黄尊三在日本时的日记记载颇详,藉此可获知他留日期间的学习与生活情况,洞悉其思想嬗变轨迹。起初,他以学业为重,很少参加政治活动,属于较＂保守＂的留日学生;在经历了一系列的事件之后,其态度才逐渐发生转变,由刻意关注国家大事,再到对清政府由痛心至失望,主张暴力革命。辛亥革命后黄尊三的思想又往前迈进一步,他认为革命并不能解决一切问题,根本在于彻底改造中国人的素质。透过黄尊三的留学日记,可以了解清末政局变动下留日学生的不同反应,从而大体窥见百余年前留日学界的真实状貌。

Huang Zun-san went to study in Japan in 1905 and returned home in 1912. His diary recorded his learning and every- day life in Japan, which reflected his change in thinking. At first, he was among the relatively conservative Chinese students studying in Japan, focusing on study and rarely participating in political activities. But a series of events happened later led to his shift in his attitude. He began to pay attention to national affairs. Then he was distressed and despaired by the Qing government and advocated violent revolution. The 1911 Revolution made Huang Zun-sang thought step forward, and he believed that revolu- tion could not solve all problems, to improve the Chinese people＇ s quality was an essential point. Huang Zun-sang diary reflects the different responses of Chinese students in Japan to political turmoil of Late Qing, and gives us a rough impression of the real situation of Chinese students in Japan 100 years ago.
