企业是技术创新促进经济增长的纽带，专利申请数据是衡量技术创新的替代指标。企业技术创新水平可以从数量和质量两个维度衡量。通过构建制药行业的专利申请数据库，本文研究发现：技术创新的数量和质量对企业财务绩效存在不同的影响。技术创新数量水平高的企业能够显著提高销售收入和盈利水平。技术创新质量水平的情况相对复杂。市场导向性强的技术创新比科技含量高的技术创新更能够提升企业销售收入和盈利水平。

Enterprise is the micro unit for technological innovation to promote economic growth. Patent applica- tion data can be used as alternative indicators for measuring technological innovation. Enterprise＇s level of tech- nological innovation can be measured by two dimensions： quantity and quality. Enterprise with high quantity level of technological innovation can significantly increase sales and improve profitability. When it turns to the quality level, the relationship seems to be more complex. Technological innovation with strong market orienta- tion can enhance competitiveness and profitability better than that with high content of science and technology. Moreover, pharmaceutical enterprises in traditional Chinese medicine are more sensitive to the quality level of technological innovation.
