晚清中外关于＂口岸界址＂之争的原因是多方面的。其争议着重点在于口岸界址范围大小,争议实质则涉及到＂圈居＋限口通商＂与＂杂居＋自由通商＂这样两种思想、政策和体制的冲突。双方围绕＂口岸界址＂问题而产生的种种冲突与争议,主要有口岸扩界与限界之争和入城之争等。

There are many reasons of the disputes on ＂the Port Boundary＂ between China and the foreign countries in the late Qing Dynasty. The focus on the disputes was the range of ＂port boundary＂. Actually, the essence of disputes was the conflict between the two ideologies and policies and system which were ＂entrance permission to the inland and free trade or not＂.
