Zhao State; the hometown of Xunzi; textual research
荀子故里应是战国时期的赵国，并在很大程度上应是赵国的都城邯郸。荀子的祖上可能是春秋时期晋国的卿族荀氏，但荀氏封地于战国时期并不属赵，因而指今山西南部的临猗、新绛或安泽几个地方为荀子生地都是没有根据的。不能因为《史记》仅仅记载荀子为“赵人”而未给出其生地在某个具体的县邑，便对荀子故里做出一些不切实际的猜测。
荀子故裏應是戰國時期的趙國，併在很大程度上應是趙國的都城邯鄲。荀子的祖上可能是春鞦時期晉國的卿族荀氏，但荀氏封地于戰國時期併不屬趙，因而指今山西南部的臨猗、新絳或安澤幾箇地方為荀子生地都是沒有根據的。不能因為《史記》僅僅記載荀子為“趙人”而未給齣其生地在某箇具體的縣邑，便對荀子故裏做齣一些不切實際的猜測。
순자고리응시전국시기적조국，병재흔대정도상응시조국적도성함단。순자적조상가능시춘추시기진국적경족순씨，단순씨봉지우전국시기병불속조，인이지금산서남부적림의、신강혹안택궤개지방위순자생지도시몰유근거적。불능인위《사기》부부기재순자위“조인”이미급출기생지재모개구체적현읍，편대순자고리주출일사불절실제적시측。
The hometown ofXun Zi （a famous thinker in the Warring Period）, should be located in the Zhao State in the Warring Period, and should be in the Handan city which was the capital of Zhao State. The ancestor of Xun Zi may be considered as the Xun Shi who belonged to the Qing nationality of Jin State in Spring and Autumn Period. However, in the Warring State, the fief of Xun Shi didn＇t belong to the Zhao State, so it has no ground to say that the birth places of Xun Zi are Linyi, XinJiang, and Anze and so on in the south of Shanxi Province. So we shouldn＇t make some impractical guess about Xun Zi＇s hometown just because in the Historical Records there is a saying that Xun Zi was a person of Zhao State, but there was no description about the hometown of Xunzi.
