The international carbon market will enter a new period with the developing direction transformed and the trading rule adjusted when entering the post-Kyoto period. The potential and main difficulties of carbon market developing in China were analyzed based on the developing tendency and practical implications of standard and voluntary carbon market in the world. The study suggested that the exchange trade of voluntary market and the CDM Over-the-counter carbon market together would become the main trade patterns of Chinese carbon market in the next 5-10 years.. Besides, the general thinking and suggestions for China voluntary carbon trading market development were provided in this paper, considering the trading platform integration, institution design, standard-setting, projects varieties, key technological breaking and talents reservation.
