思想政治教育虽然在高校教育中仍居首位，但其教育方式存在着弊端，审美教育以它内在独特点弥补了思想政治教育的不足。作为对大学生进行综合素质教育的审美教育，是培养德、智、体、美、劳全面发展的高素质人才的需要。做好新时期高校思想政治工作，将审美教育与高校思想政治教育相结合，充分发挥审美教育的最大功能。

The ideological and political education in college education remains in the first place, but the mode of the education has disadvantages. However, aesthetic education, with its intrinsic unique characteristics, compensates for the shortages in ideo- logical and political education. It aims at cultivating college students＇ comprehensive quality, a demand for the cultivation of highly qualified graduates in terms of morality, intellect, physical fitness, aesthetics, and work. Doing a good job in ideological and political work in universities in a new period requires the combination of aesthetic education with ideological and political ed- ucation.
