王国维是近现代中国著名学者，在中国教育学术史上有历史性贡献。教育学术是他一生涉足最早的学术领域，且他还是一位在我国最早设立的中等师范学校任教教育学科的教师。他的大量教育著译，有理论方面的，有教授法、学校管理法等方面的，也有针对当时国内实际情况而发的非常大胆的议论。他的有关教育宗旨、美育和文学教育等方面的教育思想、教育见解堪称确切精当，至今依然具有极重要的现实意义。
