The tendency of internationalization of Tibetan studies not only plays an important role in inheriting, promoting and protecting Tibetan traditional cultural heritages but also makes up deficiencies in domestic Tibetan studies. The characteristics of modern Tibetan studies in New York are opening research institutes, sharing research results, making use of public resources, disseminating Tibetan culture, attaching importance to learning Tibetan, training high-leveled talents, giving priority to oral history and saving historic documents.
