新中国成立后，以民族平等为基础的民族识别等工作把握住了多民族国家少数民族工作的主旨和本质，取得了卓越的成就，对民族团结进步，边疆社会稳定，国防巩固，国家统一起到了十分重要的作用。但民族毕竟是一个历史过程，在一定的历史阶段有其活性变化成分，应当视其量变程度给予高度重视，加强研究。在全球化的当今，中国人的公民身份认同将是一个对中华民族认同具体化和可操作性的方案。

After the People＇s Republic of China was founded, ethnic identification based on ethnic equality has grasped the central theme and essence of ethnic work in the multi-ethnic country and made a great achievement, which has played an important role in national comity movement, social safety in the border areas, consolidation of national defense and national unity. However, an ethnic group is a historical process and has changed actively in a certain historical period, therefore, it should be highly valued and studied according to its quantitative change. Nowadays, under the condition of ＂globalization＂ in the world, the civic identity of Chinese people will be a concrete and practical plan for Chinese national identity.
