清代京城涌现了大量品评优伶的花谱作品,其传播对象、传播形式带有鲜明的城市特色,反映了京城的娱乐消费、文化生产及士人生活。一方面,京城文人汇集、戏曲繁盛、狎优品花的城市风貌与文化风尚促进了花谱的兴起与传播,花谱遂迎合京城观剧品伶的狂热,满足文人的访艳需求,在城市冶游风气中不断繁荣并广传于士林之中;另一方面花谱的书写内容及流播程度对城市文化也产生了影响,为城市娱乐提供指南,促进了声色冶游文化的发展。
