南宋时,地方士人开始积极参与大型桥梁修建活动,并且以资金参与和非资金参与两种方式发挥自己的作用。南宋时期士人群体的壮大为参与公益事业提供了主体,政府施政能力的萎缩为士人参与地方桥梁修建活动提供了空间,社会观念对＂富＂的批评为士人提供了参与桥梁修建的舆论支持,佛教徒也为士人参与桥梁修建活动做出了表率。士人参与桥梁修建体现了士人对地方事务的关注,通过参与桥梁修建等活动士人获得了舆论的好评,也获得对社会事务某种程度上的解释支配权,这成为新的基层社会势力成长的标志。

During the Southern Song Dynasty,intellectuals started to actively participate in large-scale bridge construction activities.They exerted their influence by fund participation and non-fund participation.The growing strength of intellectual groups provided the main body of undertaking public causes.The shrinking of government＇s administrative capability provided the space for intellectuals to participate in bridge construction activities.Social concepts of ＂the rich＂ were criticized,which provided public opinion support for intellectual participation in bridge construction.Buddhists set an example for intellectuals to participate in the activities of bridge construction.Intellectuals＇ involvement in the construction of the bridge reflects the intellectual＇s concern for local affairs.Through participation in activities such as bridge construction,intellectuals received favorable public opinion.They also acquired to a certain extent the interpretation of Social Affairs dominance.This had become a sign of new growth of grass-roots social forces.
