The Sea,which won the Booker Prize in 2005,brought John Banville the highest honor of English Literature.Banville pours Poetic flavor into the novel to highlight its unique aesthetic function.Besides,The Sea reveals its inner life intensity and poetic dimension by following Banville＇s consistent concern with ＂human existence＂.Based on the two aspects,the paper is to explore the poetic features and philosophic thought entailed in the novel in terms of poetic perspective,image and language,so that we can appreciate fully its rich content,and therefore better understand Banville＇s life poetics.
