列宁的对外贸易思想主要包括：发展对外贸易是基于共同的经济利益打破帝国主义经济封锁的需要；开辟多种贸易渠道，重点发展同美国的贸易往来；转换身份，以商人身份开展同资本主义国家的贸易往来；坚持对外贸易中的垄断制。列宁的对外贸易思想对当代中国的对外开放具有重要启示：继续坚持和扩大对外开放的基本政策不可动摇：全方位地利用国际市场，扩大对外贸易；积极转变对外贸易增长方式，提高对外贸易的质量和效益；在对外开放中坚持独立自主、平等互利的原则，切实维护国家经济安全。
