民国史学受清学影响,也受宋学特别是南宋浙东史学的影响,此在＂七七事变＂之后,表现得最为明显,最为典型的史学家与史书是陈垣先生及其所著《通鉴胡注表微》。陈垣早期学术受清学影响较大,实事求是,精益求精;抗战爆发后,学术方向转变,由清学转向宋学,通史以致用,撰著《明季滇黔佛教考》、《清初僧诤记》和《南宋初河北新道教考》,论证其爱国思想;抗战后期,始撰《通鉴胡注表微》,立足抗战爱国,发掘胡三省《通鉴》注中微言大义,陈古证今,论证国家至上与秉持民族大义的道理,由考证以通义理,重节义,为学经世致用,济物利民,重视文献、掌故与考据,以清学考据为工具,以南宋史学为归宿,使陈垣抗战史学得到了一个完美总结。

Historiography of the Republic of China was not only influenced by the studies of Qing, but also the studies of Song, especially those of Eastern Zhejiang area of the Southern Song Dynasty. Such influence became more obvious after the July 7th Incident of 1937. Chen Yuan and his work An Elucidation of Hu~s Annotations to ZiZhi TongJian could be a best ex- ample. Chen Yuan was greatly affected by the studies of Qing in his early years, which led him to seek truth from facts and strive for perfection. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, as his patriotism being stimulated, his academic thinking also turned to Song style which empha- sizes practicality and he wrote three books, A Study on Buddhism in the Area of Yun Nan and Gui Zhou in the Late Ming Dynasty, The Admonishment from Monks of the Early Qing Dynasty and A Study on the New Daoism of Hebei in Southern Song Dynasty. At the end of the war, he wrote An Elucidation of Hu＇s Annotations to ZiZhi TongJian. In this book, he pointed out that the purpose of Hu to annotate ZiZhi TongJian was also to show his patriotism toward his country. With textology of Qing as its tool, and pragmatism of Southern Song as pur- pose, the historiography of Chen Yuan was established perfectly.
