通识教育的发展过程始终包含着对德育功能的关注,通识教育与高校德育具有相通相融之处,通识教育课程模式是实现德育功能的重要途径和载体。然而,对通识教育内涵的认识、师资队伍总体水平、课程设置等诸多因素均影响了通识教育德育功能的发挥。在新的历史时期,要充分发挥通识教育的德育功能,其前提就是要寻求大学通识教育的改革之路,即提高对通识教育重要性的认识;优化课程体系;完善教学评价体制,调动教师积极性、提高教学质量;完善制度,强化管理。

The whole development process of general education always embraces the functions of moral educa- tion. As its purpose is in common with that of moral education of institutions of higher learning, the curriculum model of general education is an important approach and vehicle to carry out the functions of moral education. However, a lot of factors may hinder its moral functions from being given scope to, such as the understanding of the connotations of general education, the overall level of the teaching staff, the course offering, etc. To bring full play to the moral function in the new historical period, the premise is to seek a road for reform of u- niversity general education, viz. to raise the awareness of the importance of general education and optimize the curriculum system, to improve the teaching evaluation system and mobilize the teachers' enthusiasm and enhance the quality of their teaching, and more, to improve the educational system and strengthen its manage- merit.
