采用眼动研究中经典的移动窗口技术范式探讨中学生字词阅读知觉广度。通过两个实验分别对17名初中二年级学生和12名初中二年级学生进行了汉语字、词阅读知觉广度的眼动研究。实验1结果表明,初中二年级学生字窗口条件下的阅读知觉广度为注视点左侧1个单字到右侧2个单字的范围;实验2结果表明,双字词窗口条件下的阅读知觉广度为注视点左侧1个双字词到右侧1个双字词的范围。本研究推论汉语阅读过程进行的是词单元加工,而不是单字。

To test the parafoveal preview effect and to examine the priority in the processing of reading character - based Chinese sen- tences or two - character based Chinese sentences, two experiments were conducted according to the eye-movement and using the contin- gent display change technique. Eyelink-II eye-tracker was used to record the participants" eye movements of their right eyes. The sam- piing rate was 500 Hz. In Experiment 1, a total of 92 sentences were presented in 8 viewing conditions (C, C + 1R, C + 2R, C + 3R, C + 4R, 1L + C + 4R, 2L + C + 4R, the whole line) to examine the perceptual span of 17 junior high school students as they read the character based sentences. In Experiment 2, the same 92 sentences were presented in 6 viewing conditions ( W, W + 1R, W + 2R, 1L + W + 2R, 2L + W + 2R, the whole line) to examine the perceptual span of 12 junior high school students as they read the two-character word based sentences. After calibration and validation, the participants were asked to read the instructions for the experiment. At the start of each trial, a calibration dot appeared in the same position of the first character of the sentences to be read. The participants were asked to look at it and to press a button on a control pad. After pressing it, the sentence appeared. When she/he finished reading it for comprehension, she/he pressed the button again. The comprehended sentence disappeared and the next trial started. Each participant should read all the sentences of the experiment. The results are as follows: ( 1 ) junior high school students'perceptual span of Chinese character sentences was 1 character to the left of the fixated word and 2 characters to its right, and the perceptual span of Chinese two-character words based sentences reading was 1 two-character word to the left of the fixated word and 1 two-character word to its right. (2) Under two-character word based viewing condition, the perceptual span was larger than the char- acter based condition sentences. Conclusions : ( 1 ) The results indicate that the neighbors of the present fixating word affect the stages of lexical access, an interpretation consistent with the E - Z model. (2) The results are in favor of word based processing in Chinese read- ing. It provides support for the idea that Chinese reading processing is word based, but not character based.
