Accurate judgments help people obtain a better understanding of themselves and the environment. As a result, people can make wise choices or decisions. However, a large number of studies have found that human judgments are inaccurate. Furthermore, people rarely have conscious awareness of this phenomenon. Evolutionary psychologists argued that many misbelieves are not accidental deviation or evolutionary design limitations. The reason why they can be preserved is that they reduce the survival cost, make individuals possess more disposable resources or promote physical and mental health. According to the error management theory of evolutionary psychology, deception in a person~ thoughts and actions is a systematic error rather than a random error. And this error subconsciously is advantageous. Taking advantage of technologies such as fMRI, ERP and TMS, researchers found that part of the region and the structure in the prefrontal cortex corresponds to inaccurate judgment. For example, individuals" excessive judgment significantly may be reduced when TMS is applied in their medial prefrontal cortex. Future research should pay attention to how to use evolutionary psychological theories to explain phenomena in real lives and how to achieve clinical application of cognitive neuroscience findings in order to improve judgments.
