霍米·巴巴的模拟既是一种统治策略，更是一种抵抗策略，它体现了一个权力运作的过程。在菲律宾裔美国作家卡洛斯·布洛桑的重要作品《美国在心中》里，殖民者一方面以美国例外论思想激发菲律宾被殖民者的认同意识并模仿殖民者，同时也用本体劣等性思想和使被殖民者宠物化的模拟策略保持与被殖民者的距离并维持其统治的霸权。从被殖民者来说，模拟既让他们发现了殖民话语的内在矛盾，又使得他们通过挪用与改写殖民话语而产生出的混杂变体，实现了对殖民话语的消解和颠覆。

In Filipino American writer Carlos Bulosan＇s important work America Is in the Heart：A Personal History, the colonizers, on the one hand, by using the view that Americans are exceptional, inspire the colonized to identify with Americans and on the other, they also, by using the idea that the noumenon is coarse and the mimicry strategy of petting the colonized, keep their distance from the colonized and maintain their hegemony of rule over them. For the colonized, mimicry allows them to find the inherent contradictions of the colonial discourse and makes them realize resolving and subverting the colonial discourse through a hybridity variant produced by appropriating and rewriting it.
