在日本近代文学史上,芥川龙之介一直被视为理性派作家,然而在芥川的作品中却处处流露着对理性的怀疑,＂理性的无力＂是芥川作品的一大主题。以芥川创作于1920年的小说《南京的基督》为考察对象,通过对文本的具体分析,论证了文本中由年轻的日本旅行家内心的思考所揭示出的基于理性的＂事实＂是不可能打破由女主人公宋金花的确信所构筑的＂童话＂世界的。并进一步指出作品中这样的设定体现了芥川对包括西方理性主义在内的近代文明的权威性的反思与怀疑,而这正是芥川文学的独特之处。

In the history of modern Japanese literature, Akutagawa was recognized as a rational writ- er, but in Akutagawa＇ s works, there are always suspicion to rationality. The powerlessness of ration- ality is one of the major themes of Akutagawa＇ s works. This paper, taking Christ in Nanjing （1920） as the study object, through a detailed analysis of the text, pointed out that the ＂fact＂ which the young Japanese traveler thought can not break the ＂fairy tale＂ which was constituted by heroine Song Jinhua＇ s confidence, and for further pointed out that this setting expressed Akutagawa＇ s reflection and suspicion on the authority of modern civilization including the Western rationalism, and this is the uniqueness of Akutagawa＇ s literature.
