《国朝文汇》是江浙藏书文化的衍生物，在清末民初特定历史背景下又寓有国学救亡的目的。保存国粹具体表现为保存乡土文献，其核心是弘扬乡邦文化。《国朝文汇》编撰者秉着浓烈而执着的国粹精神，以江浙宏富的藏书为支撑，以笃实严谨的态度执行编纂，凭文献史实张扬国学认知与文献识见，选文达一千三百余家，皇皇巨著挽救了不少濒临散亡的清代文集，具有辑佚存失与参校的双重价值。

Guo Chao Wen Hui is ramification of the culture of collecting books in Jiangsu and Zheji- ang and adopts the aim of saving the country by studies of Chinese ancient civilization at the end of Qing Dynasty. The specific expression embodies in keeping local literature whose core is to pro- mote local culture. The compilers of Guo Chao Wen Hui have intense and persisting spirit of quintes- sence of Chinese culture, select writings by over 1,300 writers with the support of rich collection in the area with an honest and a strict attitude and with cognation and knowledge of literature and his- torical facts. This book saves many extinguishing selections of Qing Dynasty and has the value of compiling and proofreading the scattering and lost documents.
