宋词中运用拟人化手法十分广泛，大大超越了唐五代词与宋诗。几乎所有杰出词人都是擅用拟人的艺术高手，拟人之作在词人作品中所占比例很高，用以拟人的景物种类丰富，不管是有生命和无生命的事物都能赋予其生命和性情。从北宋到南宋，拟人手法的运用经历了从局部到整体、从人与物分写到物人合一、从修辞到造象、从写实到象征的变化发展过程。拟人的作品也由单纯表现词人自我的幽隐情思而拓展、提升到抒写家国情怀、民族气节与理想人格。拟人化手法运用得灵活多样，以各种花尤其是梅花为主的拟人化形象愈益新奇独创，有血有肉，富于灵性，情思深远，诗意浓郁，显示了宋词高超的艺术。

The technique of personification is widely used in Song Ci, greatly surpassing the amount found in the Ci of Tang Dynasties and the Five Dynasties, and the Song Poems. Nearly all the remarkable Ci poets are experts in using the technique, and the Ci works with this technique accounts for a fairly high percentage, in which lifeless objects as well as living creatures are all endowed with life and personality. From the Northern Song Dynasty to the Southern Song Dynasty, the use of personification had developed from the local perspective to the overall perspective, from the divided human and object depiction to the u- nity of the two, from rhetoric to image creation, from the realistic to the symbolic. And the content of Ci had also expanded from the self-expression of the private sentiments of Ci poets to the expression for na- tional and ethnic pride and worries as well as ideal personality. And the use of personification tended to be- come diversified, and the profound and unique personifications targeted on flowers such as the plum blos- som demonstrated the high achievement of Song Ci.
