As a leading university in the line of food excels at food and cereal engineering education and and agTicuhure, Henan University of Technology （HAUT） has supplied a large number of talents for the food industry in China. The paper takes for example the practice of training applied talents in HAUT for food industry and actively explores new approaches to cultivating more competent graduates in the new era for the purpose of serving the nation in universities with industrial characteristics.
