元代于佛教多有尊崇,京城梵刹林立,今北京广通寺,元代称法王寺,明清时期的文献和流传至今的碑文中多有记载。法王寺建于元朝初年,明代改称广通寺,明正统年间、嘉靖年间和清康熙、雍正和乾隆时期多次重修。广通寺曾是文物璀璨、高僧辈出的名刹,如今只有少数遗物存世。
원대우불교다유존숭,경성범찰림립,금북경엄통사,원대칭법왕사,명청시기적문헌화류전지금적비문중다유기재。법왕사건우원조초년,명대개칭엄통사,명정통년간、가정년간화청강희、옹정화건륭시기다차중수。엄통사증시문물최찬、고승배출적명찰,여금지유소수유물존세。
Buddhism was popular in the Yuan Dynasty and there were many Buddhist temples in Beijing.Guangtong Temple in Beijing today was called Fawang Temple in the Yuan Dynasty.It was recorded in documents of the Ming and Qing dynasties and can even be seen in many inscriptions on tablets today.Fawang Temple was built in the early years of the Yuan Dynasty.Its name was changed to Guangtong Temple in the Ming Dynasty.It was renovated during the reigns of Zhengtong and Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty and during the reigns of Kangxi,Yunzheng,and Qianglong in the Qing Dynasty.Guantong Temple used be a famous Buddhist Temple filled with various relics and full of Buddhist monks,but today it has only a few relics.
