民国初年至抗日战争爆发前,社会教育蓬勃兴起与发展。抗日战争爆发后,国民政府组建了国立西北联合大学。西北联大师生积极进行抗日救亡宣传,举办各种自然科学讲习班,广泛开展防空防毒知识宣讲、推广国语教育及文字扫盲活动、举办陕南六县小学教师讲习会等诸多领域的社会教育,激发和培养了广大民众的民族意识与爱国思想,促进了西北广大民众科学文化知识的普及,开创了学校教育与社会教育合流的新形式,探索了发展中国教育的新思路。

Before the Anti-Japanese War broke out in the early Republic of China,social education flourished.After the Anti-Japanese War breaking out,the national government founded National Northwest United University.In view of the situation of war,teachers and students took such initiatives as carrying out publicity of the Anti-Japanese War and saving nation from extinction actively,holding various workshops to spread natural science,preaching knowledge about air defense and anti-virus,popularizing mandarin education and the campaign to wipe out illiteracy,and holding workshops for primary school teachers coming from six counties in southern Shanxi.Social education aroused and cultivated the national consciousness and patriotism of the mass,promoting scientific and cultural knowledge to spread among the Northwest people,opening a new form of combining school education and social education,and exploring new ideas for the development of Chinese education.
