王绩是唐初的隐逸诗人,他否定道教神仙思想,而追求生命质量,一生坚持服食;他服食的是草木类药物,多数具有滋补性能,他的服食与神仙术了无关涉。隐逸生活（包括服食）培养了他的自然情操,提高了他感受自然和闲居生活的审美能力,从而形成了他自然、淳朴、雅淡的诗风。
