由于地理位置和经济发展水平等差异，肇始于清乾隆年间的江苏民信局有着独特的地域性。经过清末短暂的兴盛后，江苏民信局开始走向衰亡。以1896年大清邮政建立为标志，官办邮政与民间信局的博弈由此开始，江苏邮政当局先后对民信局采取了诸多严厉的措施，如强行挂号、征收过磅费，以致最后直接取缔。作为反击，江苏民信业则采取了上书、请愿、罢市等方式，然而效果却不甚明显，江苏民信局最终难逃罢废厄运。另外，军事、战争因素以及民信局之间的恶意竞争亦是江苏民信局衰亡的重要原因。一言以蔽之，民信局难以适应时代发展的需要，罢废在所难免。

Due to the geographical location and the difference of economic development level, Jiangsu civil post of- rice, beginning from the year of Emperor Qian Long, had some features. In addition, the military, war factors as well as the vicious competition of the postal office were also important reasons for the de- cline of Jiangsu civil post office. In a word, it was difficult for the civil post office to meet the need of development of the times.
