In 2010, the Shigudun Site in Tongling County, Anhui Province was excavated, by which house foundations, ash pits, ditches, water wells and large amounts of postholes were recovered, and many artifacts including potteries, hard potteries with impressed patterns, proto-porcelains, stone implements and bronzes were unearthed. The chronological array of these artifacts was close without clear gaps, and their cultural features were complex, and this site is important for the understanding of the cultural features to the south of the section of the Yangtze River in Anhui Province. Meanwhile, artifacts related to the procedures of the bronze foundry were also found in this site, which are rare materials for the researches on the bronze casting techniques in the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, and also new clues for the explorations on the production, circulation and other links in the bronze industry at that time from the aspect of the basic society.
