肯定成分编码一定的实质内涵，构成其句法功能的根据，否定词自身无实质，功能只在于对相应的肯定范畴进行去除。汉语在此形成细致的对应关系，因而形成严整的否定词系统。来源上，各种否定词都由初始的否定名词演变而来，其功能分化的根据在于所处具体肯定范畴的句法环境。否定动词形成的主要动因是论域词的引入，该过程伴随遍指操作。

The basic grammatical feature of affirmatives is that they all pack some lexical content and this is the reason why the affirmatives have their syntactical functions. But the negator encode no con- tent and they are only used to defeat the corresponding affirmatives. Chinese negator thus form a com- plex system, adopting a subtle relationship with the corresponding affirmatives. Originally speaking, all negator are derived from a negative noun, and formed their own functions when combined with dif- ferent affirmatives. The mechanism why the negative noun changed into a verb is that a noun denoting a scope of discourse and particularly another back-reference noun were introduced into the clause; meanwhile, a universal operation by the negative noun occured in this process.
