作为现代社会主流价值观念的自由在市场经济中得到了充分的呈现，投入市场经济的主体自由地追求自身利益的最大化。然而，市场经济自由的本质是个人主义自由，其特质表现为经济主体对自然物的无限占有与征服，这与有限的自然资源和有限的自然环境产生了尖锐矛盾。个人主义经济自由内蕴着破坏自然环境的巨大张力，若人类不想自毁家园，必须对个人主义经济自由进行限制。自由只能被自由所限制，对个人主义自由进行有效限制是人与自然整体相统一而生成的生态自由。唯有生态自由才能担保市场经济中经济主体的自由价值。

As the modern social mainstream value, freedom in market economy has been fully embodied. The market entities are free to pursue their interests. However, the essence of freedom of market economy is the freedom of individualism, whose trait is that the individual subject occupies and conquers matter infinitely. Yet the infinite occupation and conquest produce the sharp contradiction with the limit natural resources and natural space. The individualistic freedom contains enormous tension to destroy the natural environment. If humans do not want to self-destroy their home, the only way is to limit the individualistic freedom. As it is only the freedom that can limit freedom, the individualistic freedom can be limited by the ecological freedom, which is generated within the integrity of human and the whole nature. Only the ecological freedom can guarantee the liberal value of the economic agent in market economy.
