Wang Pengyun; works; lacking the first volume; investigation and discussion
王鹏运为晚清词坛大家,其词集有乙、丙、丁、戊、己、庚、辛七稿,独缺甲稿。时人多以为王鹏运视未中进士为终身大憾,故自编词集时未编甲稿。考察王鹏运生平、创作及其各词集刻本、稿本等,可知起初只是甲稿没有及时选出,后因悔其少作,其甲稿也不再选编,晚年终因感叹自身科举道路之不顺,故更认同先前自编词集的不编甲稿。由于人们将王鹏运未登甲科和自编词集无甲稿自然联系起来,故终有前说。

Wang Pengyun was a famous person among the ci-poets in the late Qing Dynasty.His ci-poems works had seven volumes,but missed the first volume.People often thought Wang Pengyun regreted that he didn’t pass the Jinshi exam in his life,so he didn’t edit the first volume when he edited his works himself.Investigating Wang Pengyun’s life,ci-poems and his works,we knew that at first he didn’t edit the first volume in time,and then he didn’t be satisfied to his previous ci-poems,so he didn’t edit the first one any more.In his old age he sighed his feeling that he couldn’t pass the Jinshi exam,so he thought it’s right that he didn’t edit the first volume when he edited his works himself before.People had the previous view because they got failing in the Jinshi exam in touch with lacking the first volume naturally.
