历史赋予诸子的使命是解决复杂的现实问题,散文语言远比诗歌语言更适合他们表达自己的态度和看法,加之诸子普遍对新声持抵制态度,造成了诸子在诗歌创作方面的集体失语和无所作为。站在歌必有词、词即为诗的角度,诸子时代应该是个诗歌创作繁荣的时代。但由于诸子缺乏创作的动力,所以这一时期的诗歌创作既缺乏振聋发聩的声音,也没出现专以诗闻名的诗人,以至于给人留下这样的印象：诸子时代似乎是一个诗歌创作＂消歇＂的时代。

Solving the complex reality problems is the mission that history entrusted to the scholars of hundreds of various schools.These scholars were largely boycotting the new literary style—poetry and they thought that prose could allow them to better express their opinion and attitude,that is why these scholars almost had no progress in the creation of poetry.From the standpoint of ＂where there is song,there is verse,and the verse is poetry＂,this age should have been a booming times for poetry creation.However,for they lack of creative power,there were neither strong voice in the creation of poetry nor poet especially famous for poems.Hence,we have the impression that the age of hundreds of various schools is an age of poetry ＂prosaicness＂.
