蒯因在其1969年的文章《自然化认识论》中提出将认识论研究纳入到心理学的一章中，并用自然科学的方法来研究人的认识过程，从而以描述性的认识论取代以规范性辩护为中心的传统认识论。对于认识论的自然化纲领，金在权、邦久等人提出了尖锐的批评，指出这一做法将会取消认识论作为传统哲学重要分支的独立性。而戈德曼等自然化认识论的支持者，则提出了具体的自然化方案，并且认为在个体主义的方法论之外，人们还应该从社会维度研究“真理”概念的形成、辩护标准的确定以及真理的社会传播等问题。

Since W. V. O Quine proposed the naturalistic approach to study epistemology within his fa- mous article ＂Naturalized Epistemology＂ in 1969,the debate on the descriptive and normative aspects of epistemic research and the legitimacy of naturalistic method is everlasting. Alvin Goldman, who pro- ceeded within his causal theory to articulate the naturalistic approach, also made an effort to incorpo- rate the significance of social communication as a complementary dimension to uncover the way of for- mulating the criteria for ＂truth＂,justification and other epistemic categories.
