欧洲与中国的交往从元朝开始以元大都“汗八里”为中心展开，从此进入一个新阶段。通过对蒙高维诺、鄂多立克、马黎诺里等方济各会士留下的游记、书信的梳理、解析，可以显现元朝时期西人的“北京经验”和当时中欧交往的状况，并勾勒出西方的“汗八里”形象。

From the Yuan Dynasty, the cultural exchange between Europe and China began to enter into a new era with most of its activities centered on the Great Capital of Yuan Dadu （Khanbaliq）. A close study and analysis of the travelogues and letters written by Giovvanni da Montecorvino, Odoricus de Portu Naonis, Giovanni de＇ Marignolli and other missionaries of the Franciscan Order can clearly reveal the Westerners＇ Beijing Experience, the general picture of the Europe-China cultural exchange in the Yuan Dynasty, and the Western image of Khanbaliq.
