克木人的自我认同建立在原先长期以来处于主导地位的傣泰族群对其“认异”的历史记忆上，其族群边界在自我认同——被认异——强化认同的过程中建立并得到强化。突如其来的“归族识别”的强势介入赋予了克木人一个新的族属：布朗族。这～新族属在政策语境中与自我认同和社会定义间互动博弈，给克木人带来了身份认同与发展的双重困惑。随着特殊扶持政策的推进，“我们是谁”成为克木人在社会、经济以及文化发展过程中一个绕不开的心结。而“族”的隐喻与“人”的发展将在多大程度上得以统一？或许是解决这个问题的关键。

The Kenm people＇s self - identity is based on their historical memory of ＂ethnic distinction＂ by the Thai - Dai ethnic groups who were long in a dominant position, The Kemu people＇s ethnic classification has been strengthened in the process of self - identity - -ethnic distinction- -strengthened identity. The sudden ethnic group identification has enforced the Kemu people to accept a new ethnic identity, the Bulang ethnic group. The interaction between self - identity and social classification in the context of the state poli- cy has brought about the dilemma of identity and development to the Kemu people. With the further implementation of favorable poli- cies, ＂who are we？＂ has become a puzzlement in their social, economic and cultural development while the key to this problem might be the possible unification of the metaphor of ＂group＂ and the development of ＂human＂.
