通过对2000年第五次全国人口普查和2010年第六次全国人口普查数据的计算和比较，文章对我国西部少数民族人口的聚居和流动趋势进行分析，认为我国少数民族依然聚居于西部地区，但集中程度已经有所减轻；西部少数民族呈现向东部经济较为发达地区转移的趋势；同时西部少数民族人口城镇化进程加快，表现出明显的由农村向城镇转移的趋势。

Through the calculation and comparison between the fifth census in 2000 and the sixth cen- sus in 2010 , we learn about the settlements and the migration situations of the minority population in Western China ： most of the minority population still live in China＇ s western region, but the intensity of population has been decreased; more and more minority people in western China have transferred to the more developed regions in eastern China in recent years; the population urbanization process of the western ethnic minority have accelerated, showing the obvious trend of shifting from rural to cities and towns.
