先秦时期延续下来的汤沐邑制度，到汉代演变为以公主为代表的皇室女性汤沐邑和以皇子为代表的皇室男性汤沐邑两类。西汉汤沐邑多分布在黄河中下游发达的农业经济区，东汉汤沐邑则以京畿之地居多。皇帝以好恶随意增减汤沐邑的现象比较复杂。汤沐邑有数量规定，并仿照县的建制。一般皇室女性不再享受经费。汤沐邑的存在，干扰了社会稳定。加剧了社会的矛盾。

The Tangmu State system inherited from pre-Qin period to the Hart Dynasty evolved into two types： the royal temate Tangmu State represented by princess and the royal male Tangmu State represented by prince. The Western Han Dynasty Tangmu State localed in the developed agricultural economy area of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River while the Eastern Han Dynasty Tangmu State located in the capital city and its environs. It is complex that the Tangmu State increased or decreased randomly by the emperor~ attitude. Tangmu State had a number of provisions and followed the country＇s organization system. Gen- eral royal female no longer enjoyed funds. The existence of Tangmu State disturbed the social stability and intensified the socialcontradictions.
